Welcome to my Wednesday Blog which every week will have my Forecasts of all the games involving Top 25 teams. As usual it includes my computers projected box score for each game.
So far this year the Top 25 forecasts have gone 55-9 picking the winners of each game. That record may sound great but do keep in mind most games have involved teams that were big favorites so the majority of people will have a solid record on these games as well. On the bottom of the forecast I have listed some upset specials both weeks and there have been 4 upsets out of 10 and a couple of near upsets like UNLV over Oregon St last week (gave up FG with :07 left). That is a very good record as most underdogs are expected to lose. Combined the first two weeks the record is 59-14 81% picking the winner of the games.

Miami, Fl dominated GT. We can only imagine that all summer long they heard the number “472, 472” which was the amount of rush yards GT gained on them last season. UM’s D held GT to 95 yds rushing on 39 carries and dominated by even more than the 33-17 score. They had a 235-95 yd edge in the 1H and led 33-10 going on 2 long drives but missing 26 & 31 yd FG’s in the 4Q…
Boise St jumped out to a 24-3 lead but FSU made a game of it. The game also featured a lot of big plays as the 2 combined for eight plays of 60+ yards, had two 77 yd KR’s, an IR TD and Fresno St RB Mathews had TD runs of 69, 60 and 68 yds…
N Carolina had 22-13 FD and 433-247 yd edges. Still, EC fmbl’d at the NC27 in the 1H and in the 2H had a 47 yd FG blk’d. EC only trailed by 7 after settling for a 22 yd FG with 6:21 left but NC went 81/8pl for a 5 yd TD run with 1:58 left…

At the top of this week’s performances were a couple of defenses that shutout potent offenses. As I called for on my Thursday blog, Landry Jones, taking on weaker defense, had a much better day statistically than Tulsa’s GJ Kinne. Kinne came in among the NCAA leaders in pass efficiency. Tulsa came into last week averaging 451 yards per game and yet the Sooners got their 2nd consecutive shutout. Kinne threw for 106 yds (46%) with an 0-2 ratio while Jones threw for 338 yds (68%) with a 6-2 ratio. CLICK HERE FOR OKLAHOMA’S GAME-BY-GAME STATS.
Toledo came in averaging 555 total yards per game but was held to 210 total yards.
Florida St did only outgain BYU by 39 yards but knocking off a Top 10 team on the road, 54-28, made Florida St one of the most impressive performances of this week.
Miami, FL dominated Georgia Tech by even more than the final score would indicate. CLICK HERE FOR MIAMI’S GAME-BY-GAME STATS. One year after allowing 472 yards to GA Tech on the ground in the cold in Atlanta they gave up just 95 yards rushing. Good enough for the #4 performance of the week.
While Washington was outgained by 67 yds against USC, defeating the #3 team in the country made the Top 5 list of performance this week.
