Week 8 Picks for Every FBS Game

For the last couple of years I have picked the games involving the Top 25 teams and thrown in a couple of upset picks. This year I thought you might be interested in who I think will win EACH FBS game this weekend. Every Friday I will give you my personal forecast on every game that involves a FBS team.

I list the projected scores from my computers forecast. Another column shows you the computers yardage forecast for each game. I think it will be interesting to see who the computer picks to win the yardage battle and see if they win the game. In my College Football magazine I have the plus and minus ratings. I update them weekly and then factor in the home edge and I will show you who the Plus Minus ratings forecast. I will also list who Vegas has favored to win each week and we can see how they do picking the actual winners of games. There is also a WEEKLY POLL which you can enter for free each week. What I will do is on Friday morning I will tabulate the vote on each game and list who the fans are picking to win the games. If you check out my daily blogs on July 30th, July 20th, July 15th, etc, you will see that I have developed a new power rating which takes the yards and points gained against an opponent and factors in that opponents grade to give a team an individual game rating.

Mr. Steele, I have a lot of respect for you, but I am astounded every time I read your opinion regarding Ole Miss. Their stats may not be that bad, but that is because they have played Memphis, SE Louisiana, and UAB. Their best win to date was against Vanderbilt. If that was true for my team, I would cry.

  • tomsharp

I don't understand why Vegas and experts like you think the TCU vs. BYU game will have a total in the 50s. I see TCU playing their great ball/clock control game to perfection. The only problem would be “overtime.” I have a total in the high 30s or low 40s. I'm going to the window big time with this one.

  • Shawn Oakley

    Hey Phil
Its Shawn for Taunton, ma. Now that Ricky Dobbs is hurt do you still think Wake Forest will lose? I am a big Riley Skinner fan and would love to see him in a “decent” bowl. Ps I totally agree with your BYU pick, and Im a TCU fan. Furthermore, if you remember me at all you know I always ask you about NEVADA whether its calling in to rivals or here. They WILL hammer Idaho (though the Vandals are improved, solid qb ) just seems that NEVADA runs the ball with more authority at home. That being said, do you think they can CHALLENGE Boise in a few weeks?

    Thanks
    Your Biggest Fan
Shawn (ps Massachusetts is the worst state to live in if you're a college fb fan)

  • Oregon Ducks

    Mr. Steele,

Please continue predicting Oregon to lose so they can continue winning.

    Thanks

Sorry if I missed this in an earlier blog, but how do you decide which results to make green or red?

It seems like predictions for Alabama by 21, 17, 18.25, 14 should all be red since Alabama only won by 2 and did not cover the spread which all the predictions believed they would.

Same with Notre Dame…predictions of them winning by 24 and 13 should be red correct?

Cal, South Carolina, there are others as well.
