NEWS AND NOTES: California’s Mike Mohamed who led the Pac-10 in tackles last year was a late scratch from the Nevada game. In the 1H NV had a 182-126 yd edge and led 24-14. The key play of the game happened in the 2H after Cal had trimmed it to 24-21 and was driving for the go-ahead TD, Riley was int’d and ret’d 65 yds for a TD, a 14 pt swing. Cal would then go on a 76/8pl drive and settle for a 22 yd FG, go on a 65/14pl drive but was SOD at the NV13 and went 49/8pl but was int’d at the NV10. One of NV’s TD’s came after they recovered an onside kick and drove 41 yards for a TD in their 52-31 win. Cal actually had the yardage edge at 502-497. Read more…
For the last couple of years I have picked the games involving the Top 25 teams and thrown in a couple of upset picks. This year I thought you might be interested in who I think will win EACH FBS game this weekend. Every Friday I will give you my personal forecast on every game that involves a FBS team.

Last year I started a weekly blog that included my surprise fantasy picks for each week of the college football season. Each week I picked the players that were flying under the radar and I continued my weekly surprise fantasy picks last week with a record of 7-2-3 (68.1%). Overall on the season I am 18-3-3 (80%) which is very good when you consider most of my picks are surprises. To check out last week’s picks click here. Here are my picks for this week. Read more…
Every week we will post my Forecasts of all the games involving Top 25 teams. As usual, it includes my computer’s projected box score for each game.
Last week the Top 25 Forecasts went 17-3 85.0% picking the winners of each game. That record may sound great, but do keep in mind most games have involved teams that were big favorites so the majority of people will have a solid record on these games as well. On the bottom of the forecast, I have listed some Upset Specials which have gone 2-1 on the year and last week had a winner with Hawaii over Army. Combined this year’s record is 40-5 88.9%!! Wisconsin took their opening drive vs San Jose St 80/8pl for a TD and took their 2nd drive for an apparent TD but fmbl’d into the end zone for a touchback. At the half they only led 17-0 with a 203-110 yd edge and SJSt got two 2H TD’s, the latter with 5:45 left only to lose 27-14.
Michigan St’s secondary was a problem last year and Florida Atl, basically playing a road game at Ford Field in Detroit, had their QB Jeff Van Camp hit 23-35-215 yds despite the fact FAU has zero returning st’rs on the O-line.
UConn scored the 1st 5x they had the ball vs TX Southern and allowed just 1 FD in the 1H while rolling up 288 total yards offense. RB Jordan Todman rushed for 151 yds, his 7th career 100 yd game and did not play in the 2H. Read more…
