Week 13 Surprise College Fantasy

November 25th, 2011 No comments

Two years ago I started a weekly blog that included my surprise fantasy picks for each week of the college football season. Each week I picked the players that were flying under the radar and I am pleased that I finished my first year at a very successful 83-29-7 (74%). Last year I had another successful year with a winning week every week and an overal 103-45-17 (70%) record.

This year I will again be giving you the surprise fantasy picks each and every week in my Thursday daily blog and here are my picks for Week 10. Keep in mind you will not find players like Andrew Luck, Denard Robinson, LaMichael James or Justin Blackmon in my picks. These are strictly surprise picks of players who are flying under the radar. Last week I went 7-3! I am currently 75-37-10 (67%) on the picks so far this season and the last 6 weeks I am 45-14-1 (76%).

Week 5 Surprise College Fantasy

Two years ago I started a weekly blog that included my surprise fantasy picks for each week of the college football season. Each week I picked the players that were flying under the radar and I am pleased that I finished my first year at a very successful 83-29-7 (74%). Last year I had another successful year with a winning week every week and an overal 103-45-17 (70%) record.

This year I will again be giving you the surprise fantasy picks each and every week in my Thursday daily blog and here are my picks for Week 3. Keep in mind you will not find players like Andrew Luck, Denard Robinson, LaMichael James or Justin Blackmon in my picks. These are strictly surprise picks of players who are flying under the radar. Last week I went 4-3-2 including both of my QB’s topping having big days! I am currently 19-13-7 on the picks so far this season.

Week 3 Surprise Fantasy

Each week I picked the players that were flying under the radar and I am pleased that I finished my first year at a very successful 83-29-7 (74%). Keep in mind you will not find players like Andrew Luck, Denard Robinson, LaMichael James or Justin Blackmon in my picks. These are strictly surprise picks of players who are flying under the radar. Last week I rebounded in a big way going 6-2-2 including all three of my RB’s topping the century mark!

QUARTERBACKS:

My QB’s of the Week: Marshall Lobbestael, Washington St, Alex Carder, Western Michigan and Tevin Washington, Georgia Tech

Marshall Lobbestael, Washington St-Lobbestael who is filling in for Tuel who was hurt early on in the season opener has been tremendous throwing for 296 ypg (75%) and has a 7-0 ratio. Lobbestael is #3 in the country in pass efficiency. Last week he did throw for 5 td’s in the 59-7 win over UNLV and while he may not throw for that many this week, my computer is calling for 298 pass yds and 33 points giving the Cougars a great chance at starting 3-0. This is a player to look out for in coming weeks as the Cougars are looking to have their best season under Wulff.

Alex Carder, Western Michigan-Carder is completing 69% of his passes for 163 ypg (shortened game vs Mich) and has a 2-2 ratio. This week he goes up against a CMU pass defense that has allowed just a total of 192 yds in their first two games but my computer is projecting 275 pass yards and I think Carder and the Broncos get revenge from last year’s loss to CMU.

Tevin Washington, Georgia Tech-Yes, GT runs the option but did you know that Tevin Washington in the first 2 games has thrown for 473 yds (62%) with a 5-0 ratio and is averaging 36.4 yards per completion! This week they take on a poor Kansas defense that has allowed 320 pass ypg (78%) with a 4-0 ratio and is currently ranked #113 in pass efficiency D. My computer calls for 215 pass yards for GT and if it happens again for a 3rd straight week, you can call this one another easy winner. Read more…

Surprise College Fantasy Picks Week One!

September 1st, 2011 No comments

Finally the College Football season starts tonight with 14 games on the schedule.

This year I will again be giving you the surprise fantasy picks each and every week in my Thursday daily blog and here are my picks for Week 1. Keep in mind you will not find players like Andrew Luck, Denard Robinson, LaMichael James or Justin Blackmon in my picks. These are strictly surprise picks of players who are flying under the radar.

QUARTERBACKS:

My QB’s of the Week: James Franklin, Missouri, Tino Sunseri, Pittsburgh, Barrett Trotter, Auburn and Austin Davis, Southern Miss

James Franklin, Missouri- Blaine Gabbert is off to the NFL and the new starter for the Tigers is James Franklin who is a PS#19. Last year he got in 10 games (11-14, 106, 1-1) as the Wildcat QB. He is strong armed and elusive and keep in mind he is surrounded by top flight skill position players as the Tigers return their top 3 rushers and their top 4 WR’s who all had at least 39 receptions last year. Gabbert who was a #1DC only had a 16-9 ratio last year so there is a chance that Franklin actually could post better numbers this year with so much depth and experience around him. This week they take on a Miami, Oh team that gave up 51 pts to the Tigers last year and my computer projects 288 pass yards for the Tigers. A near 300-yd game and a big win should be deemed a very successful first start for Franklin. Read more…

Week One Poll: Pick Who Wins Each Game and Qualify For Some Great Prizes!!

August 29th, 2011 No comments

The Week One Poll is available right now!

You can vote on who will win this week’s games by clicking the above link. This poll is separate from the conference and non-conference poll contest that you have been voting on all summer long. The tie breaker will be whoever correctly picks the biggest upset to occur. For example if two players are tied at the top, the person who correctly predicted a 17 pt underdog to win will get the nod over someone who did not pick any upsets.

Every week I will announce the winners of the weekly poll along with the prizes. This first week the prizes are as follows:

1st Place. Complete Set of Phil Steele magazines and Polo Shirt

2nd Place. Your choice of a college, pro or FCS magazine and Polo or T shirt

3rd Place. Phil Steele.com T Shirt

Congratulations again to last year’s overall winner Max Winter who came in 1st place with 594 games predicted right. While my goal is to finish a top the standings each and every year I did finish in 12th place out of thousands of nationwide voters. Make sure you are voting each and every week since there are at least 50 games every weekend. If you miss just one week, it will almost assuredly eliminate you from finishing at the top.

Make sure you get in on the week one vote I will keep a running talley of the leaders during the year and I will update this weekly as well. Best of all the contest is FREE!!!

3 Days Until the First College Football Game!!!

Final Conference Poll Update!

August 26th, 2011 No comments

This is my third update on how the conference poll voting is shaping up. The last couple of years, I have I put up a poll for everyone to pick who would win each conference game during the year. I found these results fascinating prior to the year. When you vote in the poll, it tabulates the current % of votes for each team in each individual game. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the year for the people who predicted the conference’s most accurately. However, you need to vote on every single game to qualify. You cannot just vote on the six BCS conferences and skip the others. You have only until the end of the weekend to get your votes in!

Here are the current conference standings for all the conferences with the percentages of each game factored in according to your votes.
