Do you need roster help this weekend, but missed out on the hot waiver wire pick ups? Here are some sneaky, under-the-radar players who have favorable matchups this week.
Quarterbacks
Kirk Cousins QB Michigan State vs. Purdue:
This Spartan is coming off his best game of the season last week when he threw for 352 yards and 2 scores versus Western Michigan. This week he gets to participate in what should be a shoot out with the Boiler Makers of Purdue. The Spartans should be able to exploit the Purdue secondary early and often.

We are taking our third stab at Case Keanu as our top rated quarterback. Our apologies to Keenum owners. Keenum threw for a combined three touchdowns the last two times we propped him up on our lofty perch (weeks 7 & 8). But he’s been hot, throwing for over 500 yards in each of the last two games. And it is time to get value out of your number one overall pick when it matters the most.
Not surprisingly, Colin Kaepernick is a close second. While we don’t expect him to carve up Fresno State like he did San Jose State, there is not a hotter quarterback in the country the last five weeks. Colt McCoy is the only BCS quarterback to make our top ten.

Every week we will post my Forecasts of all the games involving Top 25 teams. As usual, it includes my computer’s projected box score for each game.
So far this year the Top 25 Forecasts have gone 111-28 80% picking the winners of each game. That record may sound great, but do keep in mind most games have involved teams that were big favorites so the majority of people will have a solid record on these games as well. On the bottom of the forecast, I have listed some Upset Specials which have pulled the upset 8 out of 19 times. Combined the first seven weeks record is 122-42 74%!!
Let’s get to my Top 25 Forecasts!

Last week was a good but not great week. I will grade it 3-2-1 and that means the last 3 weeks the record is 10-4-2 as I went 3-1-1 in week 5 and 4-1 in week 4! I’m looking to bounce back for another big week and I found so many good surprise candidates this week that I have 2 picks in each category.
Here are my picks for top QB (with reasoning), RB, WR and Defenses of the Week plus an Upset Special. I also give you reasoning on several Others to Watch. Keep in mind these are NOT the obvious picks. I do not take the nation’s leading passer facing a weak secondary and pick him as my QB of the Week. These are mostly SURPRISE projections and I tell you why.

It has been a good year for these players of the week with just one 2-3 week in the bunch and the rest all winning weeks including 7-2-1 the last 2 weeks. This week there are a LOT of great choices and it was tough to leave some of these off the table as just honorable mention selections! Don’t just stop at the player of the week but check out all of the honorable mentions as well! Keep in mind these are NOT the obvious picks. I do not take the nation’s leading passer facing a weak secondary and pick him as my QB of the Week. These are mostly SURPRISE projections and I tell you why.

Last week G.J. Kinne of Tulsa became our first top rated quarterback to let us down. Two touchdowns is just not going to cut it when compared to performances churned out by the others we’ve had in the top slot this year. This week we look to redeem ourselves with Toledo’s Aaron Opelt. The Glass Bowl should be rocking with Opelt and Western Michigan’s Tim Hiller airing it out in a MAC affair. There was a fight for the number one tailback spot this week between Marshall’s Darius Marshall and Fresno State’s Ryan Mathews. Fantasy owners should be happy going into the week with either in their starting lineup. You’ll also notice some surprising running backs in the top 20 this week: DeMaundray Woolridge, Ike Nduka, Seth Smith, Bernard Pierce and others. Toledo wide receiver Stephen Williams hooks up with Opelt to take down the top wide receiver spot. A number of familiar names head up our tight end list in Dennis Pitta, Cody Slate, George Bryan and Ed Dickson. Looking for a defense? Look no further than the team lucky enough to play Washington State each week.
